ABOUT THE TEACHINGS
As you know, Rigpa follows the Nyingma, or ancient lineage, traced back to the extraordinary figure of Padmasambhava who brought Buddhism, and especially the ‘Heart Essence’ teachings of the Great Perfection, to Tibet in the eighth century. In particular, we maintain the cycle of teachings and practice of the Longchen Nyingtik “The Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse”, along with practices from the lineages of Tertön Sogyal Lerab Lingpa, Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo, Dudjom Tersar, and others.
The Longchen Nyingtik comprises a major terma cycle of teachings that present the deepest and innermost practice of Dzogpachenpo, revealed by the great scholar and visionary Jigme Lingpa (1730-1798). The lineage of the Longchen Nyingtik flows from the primordial Buddha Samantabhadra down to the masters of present times through an unbroken line of transmission. The cycle of the Longchen Nyingtik includes tantras, explanatory texts, pith instructions, sadhanas, guidance manuals, commentaries and supplementary texts that incorporate the preliminary and main practices, the development and completion stages with, at their heart, the practice of Ati Yoga, or Dzogchen. It therefore constitutes a complete path to enlightenment.
