On the occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's 90th birthday, we join the global Tibetan Buddhist community and countless others around the world in wishing him happiness, good health and a very long life, and in celebrating his extraordinary life and ongoing contributions.
As one of the most respected spiritual leaders of our time, His Holiness has shown unwavering commitment to promoting human values such as compassion, forgiveness and non-violence, and to fostering dialogue and harmony between religions, along with preserving Tibetan Culture and protecting the environment.
The Prajna team is pleased to share a selection of teachings by His Holiness the Dalai Lama from the Rigpa archive to honour this milestone.
We've also released another collection of teachings from His Holiness Dalai Lama available here.

“Here I am not going to give a Buddhist teaching; what I am going to express is a universal message, something which is common to everyone."
– His Holiness the Dalai Lama
Introduced by the Dean of Westminster, the Very Rev. Edward F. Carpenter, His Holiness shares a universal message grounded in our shared humanity. True happiness, he reminds us, cannot come from external means alone. We therefore have no alternative but to train our minds. The key to mental well-being is the development of wisdom and the kindness of a good heart. Whereas anger and violence will only ever have a negative effect, a good heart leads to individual and world peace.
